Applications are invited for the above position. The successful applicant will work as part of a team in the diagnosis of animal diseases and laboratory research studies related to the development of animal vaccines. The main techniques involved are cell and viral culture, a variety of serological techniques principally ELISAs and neutralisation tests, virus isolation, and PCR for pathogen detection and genetic testing. The majority of techniques are developed and validated in-house. The individual will become a member of our molecular biology team but will also be expected to participate in all routine testing activities. Compliance with Good Laboratory Practice will be required at all times.

 

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a degree in one of the Biological Sciences and with a minimum of 1-2 years molecular biology experience to bring his or her skills and knowledge to bear in an enthusiastic manner to help a small company to grow. Experience of working in a GLP environment would be an advantage but is not essential. The position is available immediately. Appointment will be made on the top half of our Virologist scale (£16,470 - £22,743) with starting salary being dependent on qualifications and experience.
