Cattle Health Scheme Manager
David Kay BSc (Hons) MSc
David graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an honours degree in Agricultural Science (Animal Science) in 1999. From a beef and dairy farming background he retains involvement with the family units. Before joining Biobest as the full-time Cattle Health Scheme Manager in September 2006 he spent several years working in agricultural consultancy and rural development projects. David is the first point of contact for advice on HiHealth Herdcare membership and testing requirements.

Karen Tait
Karen has been involved with HI Health since 2000 when she took on the role of Secretary of Orkney Livestock Association (OLA) and now with the merger of Hi Health Ltd and Herdcare, Karen will take on the role of Deputy Cattle Health Scheme Manager, assisting David with providng customers advice on membership and testing requirements.
Veterinary Staff
Paul Burr BSc(VetSci)Hons BVM&S PhD MRCVS.
Paul is the Managing Director of Biobest. He has 5 years experience of farm practice, followed by 10 years of diagnosis and research in infectious diseases. Advising both vets and farmers infectious disease problems and health scheme operation remains an important and enjoyable part of his role at Biobest. Paul has regularly presented papers at the British Cattle Veterinary Association meetings and often does talks to vets and farmer meetings on infectious disease. He is also a member of BCVA council.
Susan Duthie BVMS PhD CertVR MRCVS (Veterinary Manager)
Susan graduated from the University of Glasgow Vet School and went straight into mixed practice. Five years later, she returned to Glasgow to complete a PhD encompassing veterinary virology. After completing a related post-doctoral study, she joined Biobest in 2003. Susan has daily involvement with the HiHealth Herdcare Cattle Health Scheme, providing reports and advice for members, and is a member of the CHeCS Technical committee.
Kate Haig BVMS, MRCVS (Veterinary Adviser)
Kate graduated form the University of Glasgow veterinary school in 1980. Her experience within the veterinary industry includes research, general practice and the State Veterinary Service. She has also worked as a freelance copy-editor and proofreader specialising in scientific, medical and veterinary textbooks. Kate joined Biobest in 2005 and provides veterinary support to Biobest customers, including current and prospective members of HiHealth Herdcare
Katie Mellanby BVMS, MRCVS (Veterinary Adviser)
After graduating from Glasgow Vet School in 2000, Katie spent a total of 8 years working in mixed practice around the country before joining our veterinary team in August 2008. She is involved in providing expert advice to farmers and vets for both large and small animal testing.
The Biobest scientific and administrative team are all involved in our cattle sector business with a focus providing a high quality of service and advice to our HiHealth Herdcare members. Other staff with a direct input on your membership services are:
Bovine Administrators
Claire Bald
Claire deals with all the cattle administration regarding memberships, certificates and general administration for the cattle team. With four years experience at Biobest, Claire handles the administration side for HiHealth Herdcare members as well as assisting customers with sending out results and reports.
